Doughnut Slinger

Doughnut slingers are on the front line of providing doughnut happiness. Doughnut slingers are friendly, helpful and efficient, and are responsible for packaging doughnuts as customers request them in person, or via phone or Skip the Dishes, accepting payment, making coffee, stocking boxes and drinks, and cleaning, sometimes all at once. So the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask is extremely important. Previous experience working in a cafe setting highly favourable. Part and full time positions available to start immediately at Broadway location, and possibly transitionung to 1194 Taylor location.

 

Candidates should possess the following qualifications/qualities:
-Previous customer service experience, preferably in a cafe or bakery setting;
-Strong multitasking skills;
-Attention to detail and the ability to retain and recall information;
– Great customer service and communication skills;
-Ability to work under pressure as well posses initiative to keep busy during slower times;
-Experience handling cash and debit transactions;
-Loves (or strongly likes) doughnuts;

Production

Production staff are responsible for making the fillings, toppings and glazes necessary based on the menu for the week. Ideally a production person has baking and/or cooking experience, is able to be self directed and has a very strong ability to prioritize what needs to be made and in what quantities. The ability to multi-task is extremely important for this position. Production staff work during the day (starting at about 8-9am) for 8 hour shifts. One full-time position is available, to start in mid-October for training at the Broadway location.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications/qualities:

-Organized and consistent with attention to detail and the ability to retain and recall information;
-Experience baking/cooking a great asset;
-Pro-active and able to think critically;
-Strong multitasking skills;
-Ability to work under pressure;

Doughnut Fryer

Doughnut Fryers are responsible for frying doughnuts, sugaring doughnuts and keeping fried doughnuts organized (ensuring doughnuts are cut and sugared according to orders and production lists, ensuring vegan and regular doughnuts are properly separated, and ensuring first fried doughnuts are placed accordingly). Full and part time positions are available to start at the end of October for our 1194 Taylor location. 

Candidates should possess the following qualifications/qualities:
-Attention to detail and the ability to retain and recall information;
-Ability to work under pressure;
-Knowledge of proper food handling procedures;
-Great communication skills;
-Loves (or strongly likes) doughnuts;
-Punctual and possesses a sense of urgency but also has patience to allow for proper doughnut proofing;
-Can stand long hours in a warm environment;
-Willing to start work between 12-1am, has a reliable mode of transportation;
-Fun and positive attitude;

Doughnut Decorators

Doughnut decorators are responsible for finishing the doughnuts in the delicious flavours planned for the day (our menu changes everyday so there’s lots of variety!). Shifts start at 4 am and are 8 hours in length. Doughnut decorators are responsible for finishing the doughnuts according to appearance and recipe standards, making glazes and toppings (sometimes fillings) as required, ensuring adequate stock levels of ingredients, and cleaning duties. Doughnut decorators should have an eye for detail, a spring in their step and a sense of humor (it’s a small kitchen!). Part and full time positions available to start immediately at Broadway location, and possibly transitioning to 1194 Taylor location.

Overnight Doughnut Artisans


Overnight Doughnut Artisans work through the night to make the dough that serves as the base for our delectable doughnuts. Overnight Doughnut Artisans are responsible for making yeast, cake and gluten friendly dough batches according to daily production lists and making adjustments based on kitchen conditions; cutting the dough into either filled, ring or fritter/cinnamon bun forms; monitoring the doughnut proofer to ensure the dough is properly risen; cleaning/dishes as required; refilling ingredient containers; and frying doughnuts on occasion. Part and full time positions available to start immediately at Broadway location, and possibly transitioning to 1194 Taylor location.

 

Candidates should possess the following qualifications/qualities:

-Previous commercial bread or doughnut making experience required;
-Organized and consistent with attention to detail and the ability to retain and recall information;
-Ability to follow production lists;
-Pro-active and able to think critically;
-Strong multitasking skills;
-Ability to work under pressure;
-Knowledge of proper food handling procedures;
-Food handlers certificate an asset;
-Great communication skills;
-Willing to work overnight (9pm – 11pm start time, 7-8 hour shifts);
-Loves (or strongly likes) doughnuts;
-Punctual and possesses a sense of urgency;
-Fun and positive attitude;
